Caley Meza

Pastor
pastorcaley@plainfieldcrc.org

Pastor Caley Meza has served as the pastor of Plainfield CRC since its launch in 2022. Caley and his amazing wife, Sabrina, have been married since 2012, and have three daughters and one son. Caley is a Southern California native, a graduate of Moody Bible Institute and Westminster Seminary California, as well as completed some denominational academic work at Calvin Theological Seminary. He is thankful for his time in seminary, having received his biblical and theological training, learning to see Christ in all the Scripture, along with "just how much he doesn't' know!". Caley considers it an immense privilege to be able to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ every Sunday and to be called to serve PCRC. Beyond ministry, Caley enjoys spending time with his family, and when he has the time, cooking, playing volleyball, fitness, and new experiences.

I'm originally from Huntington Beach, California and lived there for a few years before moving to Tucson Arizona. I was baptized and went to a Presbyterian church in Tucson before moving to Roscoe, Illinois right before my 9th birthday. I met my beautiful wife, Jess, 11 years ago and we've been married for almost 9 years. Our beautiful daughters were born almost 7 years ago.  I have been a police officer for almost 20 years in Woodridge and currently work as a patrol supervisor. During my time off I enjoy listening to music, hiking, reading, and spending time with family. After moving to Plainfield, our family found our church home in Plainfield CRC.

I am married to my wife Marilyn for 42 years. We have two adult children, our daughter Jessica and her husband Ray and our grandson Ray, and our son Matthew, all who live nearby. We are blessed. I have had a long career in law enforcement and continue today. Marilyn is a retired school teacher. Our faith journey lead us to Plainfield Christian Reformed Church in 2015. We were attracted by the biblically sound theology and warmth of the congregation. The Sunday Service is the highlight for us, but the small groups and support from our fellow members has helped us grow closer to God and helped us through life’s journey. In my off hours I like to volunteer with the church, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate), work out, hike, bike, hunt, play pickleball and softball, and especially spend time with my family.

John Atwood

Elder
jatwood@plainfieldcrc.org

John Atwood was born in San Diego and raised in southern and central California. During his junior year of high school, while attending a local Calvary Chapel with his family, and after repeated exposure to the gospel, God called him out of darkness into new life. He later attended and graduated from Calvary Chapel Bible College where he was introduced to some of the distinctives of the Reformed Faith. In 1997, he moved to Illinois to attend Wheaton College where he obtained a B.A. in History. He met April in 2004, and they were married the following year. They have 3 children who keep them busy with their after school sports. John attended Christ Community Church of Plainfield for 6 years and even served as an elder during that time, but life and circumstances moved them elsewhere for a short season before returning to Plainfield CRC in 2022. He enjoys reading to deepen his understanding of the Christian Faith and sharing what he's learned with fellow believers.
